The indigenous Atakapa-Ishak people in Grand Bayou, La., have relied on the land and water around them to survive for generations. Now the traditions and survival of this small community are at risk. These two videos document the lives of the tribe after the spill:

In Deep Water: A Way of Life in Peril
Just two months after the Deepwater Horizon explosion, millions of litres of oil had already gushed out of BP’s well into the water each day, slowly encroaching on the coastline. Travel to the drill zone to learn about the erosion in the wetlands from industry canals and pipelines, the health problems blamed on contaminated air and water from petrochemical refineries.

What amazes me is that you could take a group of people who are hard workers and convince them that they should support social programs that were the exact opposite of their own personal convictions. Put a little fear here and there and you can get people to vote any way you want.
